Why Worm Test?

GYST is based in Armidale, New South Wales and our team are the go-to authority when it comes to general lab testing information for parasitology and livestock. One of our specialties is worm testing for livestock.  So, why worm test? In short, it saves money, saves time and saves drenches.

There are many reasons to keep on top of a potential worm problem in your livestock, including:

  1. Improve animal health: Animals remain more resilient to infection and other illnesses after worm testing.

  2. Increase productivity and maximize profit: Greater wool production, higher carcass weights and avoidance of unnecessary drenching. Drenching equals time, labour and therefore, money.

  3. Reduce the risk of drench resistance: This is a rapidly increasing problem in the sheep and goat industries, with no known new activities being developed, and a rising problem in both the cattle and equine industries. Worm testing is simple and cost-effective. Just imagine the cost in time, labour and drenching to treat a mob that doesn’t need drenching?
